Category: Exclusions, Denials & Fine Print
Last updated: March 2026 • Informational only
This is the most important category before you buy: Most negative experiences come from exclusions, caps, and conditions that weren’t understood upfront.
Common denial categories (high-level)
- Not covered: the item/component isn’t listed.
- Not a covered failure: cause is excluded (misuse, improper install, etc.).
- Pre-existing condition: contract may exclude prior issues (varies by provider).
- Maintenance / access / code: some related costs may not be included.
- Above the cap: plan pays up to the limit; you pay the rest.
How to read any plan in 10 minutes
- Find “covered breakdown/failure” definition.
- Read exclusions list end-to-end.
